Acer palmatum Asahi-Zuru which translates to Rising Sun, is a captivating Japanese Maple, noted for its exceptional variegated foliage and visually striking bark. In spring, the leaves emerge with a beautiful blend of pink and white to deep green leaves although they may be entirely white or pink. In autumn the Acer will produce a stunning blend of fiery oranges and reds before the leaves fall.
Perfect for ornamental use in a variety of garden styles, including Japanese and formal gardens, Asahi-Zuru thrives in partial shade, where it is protected from the intense afternoon sun. This ensures the preservation of its delicate leaf variegation. It prefers moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil. Due to its moderate growth rate and striking appearance, it is an excellent choice for focal points in garden designs or as an elegant container specimen.
Typically reaches a height of about 4m and spread of 3m.
What is a bare-rooted tree?
Bare-rooted trees are deciduous trees that have been grown in the ground and are dug up when they've become dormant in the winter. The soil is shaken from their roots and they are bundled up with their roots packed in moist material to prevent dehydration during transport.
What are the benefits?
- Less packaging and plastic waste involved in growing process and transportation.
- Plant has more root mass as the roots have not been constricted and twisted by a pot.
- They are easier to carry and plant as they are extremely lightweight.
- Bare-rooted trees are cheaper as they do not come with soil and pots.
- Planting bare-rooted trees in the winter follows the natural pattern of the seasons.
