Achillea Terracotta

Achillea Terracotta is a perennial standout in the Asteraceae family with vibrant terracotta-orange flowers that gracefully fade to yellow with age. This hardy plant reaches up to 80cm in height and spreads to 50cm, thriving in full sun to dappled shade and adaptable to a wide range of soil types, from acidic to sandy. Its lush green foliage contrasts beautifully with the warm hues of its flowers, creating a striking display in any garden. It flourishes in free-draining soil, slowly spreading into sizeable clumps without becoming invasive and self-seeding readily for a continuous display.

• Trimming: Cut back faded flower stems and trim to maintain a neat appearance throughout the growing season. In late autumn or early spring, cut back old growth to ground level to encourage fresh growth.
• Fertilising: Achillea thrives in low-nutrient soil, so fertilisation is generally unnecessary. If needed, apply a balanced fertiliser sparingly in early spring.
• Watering: Water young plants during establishment. Once established, Achillea is drought-tolerant and rarely needs additional watering except during prolonged dry spells.
• Pest Control: Monitor for aphids and spittlebugs. Remove pests by hand or use insecticidal soap as necessary.
• Disease Management: Watch for powdery mildew (white, powdery coating on leaves), especially in humid conditions. Improve air circulation and water at the base to avoid wetting the foliage. Apply a fungicide if needed.
