Agapanthus Charlotte

Agapanthus Charlotte is a charming compact variety producing soft lilac-blue flowers with darker purple stripes that appear on short stems in summer. Its narrow, strap-like green foliage forms a neat clump, making it ideal for small spaces, edging, or container planting. The delicate colouring of the flowers adds a touch of elegance to garden borders and mixed beds.
Perfect for cottage, coastal, or modern garden styles, Charlotte thrives in full sun and well-drained soils. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal maintenance. Space plants 20–30 cm apart for a tidy, compact display.
Mature size: Reaches up to 40–50 cm in height and 30–40 cm in width, forming a compact, clumping shape.
Trimming: Cut back foliage in late autumn or winter once it has died back naturally. Remove any yellowing or damaged leaves during the growing season to maintain a tidy appearance.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower stems after flowering to encourage further blooms and prevent self-seeding, especially if managing invasive tendencies.
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in spring to promote healthy growth and flowering. Avoid over-fertilising, as this can reduce flower production.
Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and dry periods. Established Agapanthus are drought-tolerant but will benefit from occasional deep watering during hot weather.
Pest Control: Check for slugs, snails, and mealybugs. Remove pests manually or use suitable deterrents.
Disease Management: Agapanthus are generally disease-resistant but may develop root rot in poorly draining soil. Ensure soil is well-draining and avoid overwatering.
