Title Default Title

Clianthus puniceus Rosea, commonly known as Kaka Beak, is an evergreen shrub native to New Zealand with a stunning display of pendulous, pink-red flowers that resemble the beak of a Kaka and hang in showy clusters. The plant flowers from late winter to spring, providing a vibrant splash of colour that attracts birds and pollinators to the garden. Throughout the year, the soft, fern-like foliage provides a lush, green backdrop that enhances the visual appeal of the garden. In winter, the striking flower buds add interest even before they fully open.

Rosea makes an excellent specimen plant or can be used effectively in mixed borders and coastal gardens. Its dramatic flowers and lush green foliage add a touch of exotic beauty, making it suitable for a variety of garden styles, including native, cottage, and wildlife gardens. This plant thrives in a sunny location with well-drained soil and benefits from a sheltered spot to protect it from strong winds and frost. When planting, ensure a spacing of at least 1-1.5m to accommodate its mature size and encourage healthy growth.

Typically reaches up to 2m x 2m, forming a dense and bushy silhouette.
