Coprosma Iti Green

Coprosma Iti Green is a compact, evergreen New Zealand native known for its small, glossy green leaves and tidy, mounding habit. Its fine-textured foliage and naturally neat form make it an excellent low-maintenance choice for structure and contrast in the garden year-round.

Ideal for native, coastal, and contemporary gardens, Coprosma Iti Green is perfect for borders, edging, mass planting, or container use. It thrives in full sun to light shade and prefers free-draining soil. Drought-tolerant once established. Space approximately 40 to 50 cm apart for low hedging or groundcover planting.

Forms a dense, rounded mound reaching around 30 to 40 cm high and 40 to 50 cm wide.

Trimming: Lightly trim in late summer to maintain its compact, tidy form. For hedging or shaping, clip as needed to encourage dense growth. Remove any dead or damaged stems at the base.

Fertilising: Apply a slow-release fertiliser in early spring. In containers or poorer soils, use a balanced liquid feed every 6 to 8 weeks during the growing season to support lush growth.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment period. Once established, this variety is tolerant of dry conditions but benefits from occasional deep watering during extended dry spells.

Pest Control: Generally low maintenance, but monitor for scale insects or mealybugs, especially in warm, sheltered sites. Treat infestations with neem oil or insecticidal soap.

Disease Management: Coprosma is generally disease-resistant. Avoid overwatering and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot. Remove any foliage showing signs of dieback and maintain airflow around the plant to reduce fungal risk.
