Hebe Garden Beauty

Hebe Garden Beauty is a compact, evergreen shrub with glossy green foliage and soft mauve to lavender flower spikes that appear from late spring through to autumn. Its tidy habit and long flowering period make it ideal for borders, containers, and low-maintenance or coastal gardens.

Plant in full sun to partial shade with free-draining soil. Tolerates light frost, wind, and coastal conditions once established. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage new growth. Space plants 50 to 60 centimetres apart for group planting or low hedging.

Grows to around 60 centimetres tall and wide.

Trimming: Lightly prune after flowering to maintain a compact shape and encourage bushier growth. Remove any leggy, dead, or damaged stems as needed.

Deadheading: Not essential, but removing spent flower spikes can tidy the plant and may encourage a light second flush of flowers.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced slow-release fertiliser in early spring. In poorer soils, a second light feed in mid-summer can help maintain vigour.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, it is reasonably drought-tolerant but benefits from deep watering during extended dry periods.

Pest Control: Watch for aphids and scale on soft new growth. Treat with insecticidal soap or horticultural oil if needed.

Disease Management: Ensure good drainage and avoid waterlogged soil to prevent root rot. Remove any yellowing or spotted foliage and maintain good airflow to reduce fungal risks.
