Helleborus Isabella's Charm is a striking, evergreen perennial that showcases soft apricot-pink flowers with a delicate wash of rose tones from late Winter through to mid-Spring. The gently nodding flowers are held above handsome marbled foliage, adding warmth and refined structure to shaded garden spaces during the cooler months.
Perfect for woodland, cottage, or modern shaded gardens, Helleborus Isabella's Charm is ideal for underplanting, borders, or container displays. It prefers partial to full shade with moist, free-draining soil enriched with organic matter. Space approximately 40-50 cm apart to support healthy growth and airflow.
Forms a tidy, clump-forming plant approximately 45 cm high and 60 cm wide.
Trimming: Cut back old, damaged, or leathery foliage in late winter or early spring before new growth and flowers appear. This refreshes the plant and reduces disease risk.
Deadheading: Remove spent blooms as they fade to keep the plant looking tidy and to prevent self-seeding if not desired.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring. A follow-up light feed in late summer can support healthy root growth and next season’s flower production.
Watering: Water regularly during establishment. Once established, Isabella’s Charm is relatively drought tolerant but benefits from deep watering during prolonged dry periods.
Pest Control: Watch for aphids and hellebore aphid on new growth-treat with insecticidal soap if necessary. Protect young leaves from slugs and snails.
Disease Management: Prone to Hellebore leaf spot in humid or crowded conditions. Remove any affected leaves promptly and dispose of them. Maintain good airflow around the plant and avoid overhead watering to minimise fungal risk.
