Magnolia Fairy Blush

Magnolia Fairy Blush is a compact, evergreen magnolia prized for its softly fragrant, blush-pink flowers that open from slender buds in late Winter through early Spring. The delicate star-shaped flowers contrast beautifully with the glossy green foliage, adding seasonal colour and year-round structure. Its bushy, upright growth makes it ideal for smaller spaces or hedging.

Perfect for feature planting, screening, hedging, or container use. Complements cottage, formal, woodland, and contemporary garden styles.

Thrives in full sun to part shade with fertile, free-draining soil. Prefers consistent moisture but is tolerant of light frosts once established. Space plants 1–1.5 metres apart for hedging or allow room to showcase as a specimen.

Typically grows to 3–4 metres tall and 2–3 metres wide, forming a dense, upright shrub with a graceful flowering display.

Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to shape and control size if needed. Remove any crossing or damaged branches to maintain a healthy framework. Minimal pruning is required once established.

Deadheading: Not necessary, but spent flowers can be removed to tidy the plant if desired.

Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support flowering and foliage health. A second, lighter feed in midsummer can benefit younger plants.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and during extended dry periods. Although relatively hardy, consistent moisture supports better flowering and growth, especially in hotter regions.

Pest Control: Generally pest-resistant. Occasionally, scale insects may appear—treat with horticultural oil or insecticidal soap if needed.

Disease Management: Watch for signs of sooty mould (often linked to scale insects) or leaf spot. Remove affected foliage, improve air circulation, and ensure good drainage to prevent fungal issues. Avoid overhead watering to reduce disease risk.
