Metrosideros umbellata

Metrosideros umbellata, commonly known as the Southern Rata, is a slow-growing tree that thrives in well-drained, moisture-rich soils. Though it may take many years to reach its mature size, this tree rewards patient gardeners with a profusion of brilliant-red flowers that are a real spectacle. Known for its hardiness, the Southern Rata eventually reaches a height of approximately 10m and a width of 4m.
