Podocarpus totara Aurea - Field-Grown

Light up your landscape with our field-grown Podocarpus totara Aurea. A delightful variant of our native Totara, Aurea is loved for its year-round, vibrant, golden-yellow foliage. This evergreen conifer is striking in its form, creating a pyramidal shape with dense, needle-like leaves that bring structure and bright colour to your garden.

It prefers well-drained soils and is adaptable to a range of pH conditions. It flourishes in full sun to partial shade, which helps maintain its vibrant leaf colour. Demonstrating significant hardiness, Aurea withstands cold winters well and is generally resistant to pests and diseases.

The brilliant, gold-toned foliage and formal shape make it an eye-catching specimen tree. This tree can also be used for creating an impactful hedge or screen, adding both privacy and a burst of colour to your garden.

Upon reaching maturity, Aurea can attain a height of 6-8 metres. Its moderate growth rate allows easy management of its height and shape, should smaller dimensions be preferred.

Field-grown plants are grown directly in open fields, enabling their roots to spread and develop naturally, resulting in larger size, established root systems, and increased resilience. When transporting these plants, hessian, a coarse fabric made from natural fibres like jute, is commonly used to wrap their roots, providing protection during transportation and handling.
