Rhododendron Kings Cerise is a great evergreen shrub that prefers dappled shade and produces large, loose trusses of cerise-pink blooms in the spring. It is frost tolerant and prefers partial shade, as well as well-drained and fertile soil that is acidic in nature. It is recommended to water and mulch the plant in the summer and to prune it after flowering. This plant is a popular choice for gardens and landscaping due to its attractive flowers and evergreen foliage.

Trimming: Lightly trim after flowering to maintain shape and remove any dead, damaged, or leggy growth. Avoid hard pruning unless necessary, as rhododendrons can be slow to recover.

Deadheading: Remove spent flower heads after flowering, taking care not to damage the new growth buds forming just below.

Fertilising: Feed in spring after flowering with a fertiliser suitable for acid-loving plants. Avoid lime-based products, as rhododendrons prefer acidic soil conditions.

Watering: Water regularly during establishment, keeping the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Once established, water during extended dry periods, especially in summer and while flower buds are forming.

Pest Control: Watch for thrips, aphids, scale, and lace bug, which may cause mottled, silvered, or distorted foliage. Treat early with horticultural oil or an appropriate insecticide.

Disease Management: Monitor for root rot, powdery mildew, leaf spot, and bud blast, which may show as wilting, yellowing leaves, spotted foliage, failed flower buds, or dieback. Improve drainage and airflow, remove affected material, avoid overhead watering, and apply a suitable fungicide if required.
