Coprosma Hawera is a compact, prostrate variety of Coprosma, known for its dense, fine-textured foliage and low-growing, spreading habit. This evergreen ground cover plant features small, glossy, green leaves and forms a tight mat, making it ideal for covering large areas in the garden with a lush, green carpet.

In the garden, Coprosma Hawera is perfect for use as ground cover, in rock gardens, or cascading over walls and banks. Its dense growth habit makes it effective for controlling soil erosion, and its tolerance of coastal conditions allows it to thrive in seaside gardens. Hawera is well-suited for modern, minimalist, and rock garden designs, offering a neat, low-maintenance ground layer.

Coprosma Hawera prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and can handle a range of soil types, including sandy and poor soils. For ground cover plantings, a spacing of about 30-40cm apart is recommended to ensure the plants knit together to form a continuous, low-lying mat.

The mature size of Coprosma Hawera is usually around 30-50cm in width and 10-15cm in height.
