Escallonia Red Elf is a compact and bushy evergreen shrub renowned for its glossy, dark green leaves and vibrant red flowers. This smaller variety of Escallonia flowers profusely with small, bell-shaped red flowers that create a striking contrast against its foliage from early summer to early autumn.

In the garden, Escallonia Red Elf is an excellent choice for low hedges, borders, or as a feature plant in mixed beds. Its compact size and dense growth habit make it ideal for small gardens or spaces where a full-sized escallonia would be too large. This plant is well-suited to coastal, contemporary, or Mediterranean garden styles, offering a bold colour and evergreen structure throughout the year.

Red Elf prefers full sun to partial shade and thrives in well-drained soil. It is relatively hardy, tolerating wind and coastal spray, making it a good choice for exposed sites. For hedge or mass planting, a spacing of 50-60cm apart is recommended to allow each plant to develop fully while creating a continuous display.
