Festuca novae-zelandiae is a perennial grass native to New Zealand. It is appreciated for its fine, blue-green foliage that forms dense, tussock-like clumps, adding texture and a natural, wild appearance to garden landscapes.

It is well-suited for meadow plantings, naturalistic gardens, and as an accent in rockeries or mixed borders. Its graceful form and adaptability make it a popular choice for creating movement and contrast in the garden, especially when planted en masse or alongside larger, structural plants.

This grass prefers full sun but can tolerate partial shade. It thrives in well-drained, poor to moderately fertile soils and is drought-tolerant once established, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance and water-efficient gardens.

For planting, spacing of about 30-50cm apart is recommended to allow the clumps to develop naturally and create a cohesive yet airy landscape effect.
