Griselinia littoralis, commonly known as Kapuka or New Zealand broadleaf, is a popular evergreen shrub or small tree known for its lush, glossy green leaves. Native to New Zealand, it is highly valued for its robust nature and versatility in various garden settings.

Kapuka is ideal for creating dense hedges or screens, offering privacy and wind protection. Its rapid growth and thick foliage make it an excellent choice for boundary plantings or as a backdrop in garden designs. Griselinia littoralis also adapts well as a standalone specimen, adding a lush, green presence to the landscape.

Preferring full sun to partial shade, Griselinia littoralis thrives in well-drained soil and is tolerant of different soil types, including sandy and clay soils. It is particularly suited to coastal areas, showing good salt tolerance and wind resistance.

For hedging, spacing of about 1m apart is recommended to ensure the plants grow together to form a solid screen. This spacing also allows each plant enough room to develop a healthy root system and canopy.

Griselinia littoralis can reach a mature height of 5-8m and a width of 3-4m, depending on its growing conditions.
