Hebe Snowdrift is a compact native evergreen shrub with lush, deep green foliage and profuse white flowers. The plant gets its name from the abundant clusters of white flowers that create a striking resemblance to snowdrifts, appearing predominantly in early to mid-summer.
In the garden, Hebe Snowdrift is perfect for creating low hedges, borders, or as a stand-alone feature in garden beds. Its dense, rounded habit and attractive foliage make it a popular choice for formal and informal settings alike, including cottage gardens, coastal landscapes, and contemporary garden designs. The white flowers add a bright, contrasting element to the garden palette, particularly effective in moon gardens where they can reflect moonlight.
This hebe variety thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers well-drained soil. It is drought-tolerant once established and can handle a range of soil types, including coastal conditions. Spacing should be about 40-50cm apart when planting for a continuous border or hedge, to ensure the plants mesh together well while still allowing each individual to flourish.
The mature size of Hebe Snowdrift is typically around 60-80cm in height and width, making it an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a mid-sized shrub that offers both year-round foliage interest and seasonal floral display.

Trimming: Lightly trim Hebe Snowdrift after flowering to maintain its shape and encourage bushy growth. Avoid heavy pruning as it can be detrimental to the plant.
Deadheading: Remove spent flower spikes to promote additional flowering and keep the plant looking tidy.
Fertilising: Apply a balanced, slow-release fertiliser in early spring to support healthy growth. A mid-summer feed can be beneficial for continued vigour.
Watering: Water regularly during the first year to help establish the plant. Once established, water during prolonged dry periods, particularly in summer.
Pest Control: Inspect for aphids and spider mites. If detected, treat with insecticidal soap or neem oil.
Disease Management: Be vigilant for powdery mildew and root rot. Ensure good air circulation around the plant and avoid overhead watering to prevent powdery mildew. Provide well-draining soil to avoid root rot and remove any affected plant parts. Use fungicides as needed, following the label instructions.
