Leptinella Platt’s Black, commonly known as brass buttons, is a unique ground-cover plant known for its feathery, fern-like leaves that are a striking dark green to almost black colour. This low-growing perennial forms a dense mat, making it an excellent choice for filling in spaces between stepping stones, in rock gardens, or as a front-of-border plant.

In the garden, Leptinella Platt’s Black adds texture and contrast with its unusual foliage and tiny, inconspicuous yellow-green flowers that appear in spring. It is particularly effective in creating a lush, carpet-like effect in shady areas, and its dark foliage provides a dramatic backdrop for brighter plants or garden ornaments.

This plant prefers partial shade but can tolerate full sun in cooler climates, provided the soil remains moist. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and benefits from regular watering, especially in dry conditions.
