Olearia paniculata, commonly known as the golden ake ake or Akiraho, is an evergreen shrub or small tree native to New Zealand. It is prized for its attractive, glossy green leaves with a golden underside and small, fragrant, white flowers that bloom in early spring. This plant is known for its resilience and adaptability, making it a popular choice for various garden settings.

In the garden, Olearia paniculata is versatile, suitable for hedges, screens, or as a specimen plant. Its dense, bushy growth habit and attractive foliage make it ideal for adding texture and colour contrast, especially in native and informal garden designs. It also performs well in coastal gardens, thanks to its salt and wind tolerance.
