Verbena Vanity

Verbena Vanity is a compact, dwarf perennial admired for its vibrant purple flowers that sit above slim green stems. Flowering from late spring through autumn, it offers a long-lasting display. Its low-growing, spreading habit is ideal for borders, garden edges, rockeries, and containers. Dark green foliage highlights the vivid flowers, while its heat and drought tolerance make it hardy and low-maintenance.

Its nectar-rich flowers attract bees, butterflies, and pollinators. Plant in full sun with well-drained soil. It tolerates sandy or loamy conditions and requires moderate watering during dry spells. Regular deadheading promotes continuous flowering.

Space plants 40cm apart for a dense, colourful display. Reaches approx. 80cm in height and spreads 40cm-50cm, creating a vibrant and compact addition to any garden.

Trimming: Lightly trim the plant throughout the growing season to maintain a compact shape and encourage new growth. In late autumn or early spring, cut back spent stems to refresh the plant.

Watering: Water regularly during the establishment phase and during dry periods. Once established, Verbena 'Vanity' is moderately drought-tolerant but benefits from consistent watering in well-drained soil.
Pest Control: Monitor for aphids, spider mites, and whiteflies. Treat infestations with insecticidal soap or a strong spray of water. Check for slugs if the plant is in a damp location.
Disease Management: Ensure good air circulation to prevent powdery mildew or fungal diseases. Avoid overhead watering and ensure the soil is well-drained to reduce the risk of root rot.
